the pain is why you do it. pain in the body silences pain in the head. i don’t recommend tho bc it becomes an addiction that’s hard to get rid of

for me it was a “you deserve it” thing. like a form of punishment. i suspect it’s because i was always beat as punishment as a kid so i associate pain with it.

My bff was going through divorce and he began hurting himself. He may have thought he deserved it or maybe with everything changing, he needed to have control of one thing, his body. Nobody deserves to feel that way.

the pain of self harm is different then if you were to get cut the same way out of surprise, it's a way to calm other emotions and it's addictive. unfortunately for me its done with adrenaline and it made me feel better and was a huge relief
