A cars value is in the year/make/model and mileage if the seller used it a lot or never. Depending on who or where you buy the car from, you can sometimes bring the car to a body shop and for $100 they will give you a summary of what is good and what will need repair down the road. Don’t forget you need to get your car registered $100 and a few months of insurance.
^It’s absolutely worth the money and time to have a new car inspected by an independent shop (not the owners mechanic) before buying. I’ve had straight up Toyota dealerships try to sell me used cars that weren’t even road legal and I wouldn’t have known it if I didn’t have them inspected first. Most honest sellers will let you have the car for an afternoon to get it looked at if they don’t have something to hide
Buying a first car can be exciting, don’t get too attached to one car because of the color or if it’s cute. I suggest bringing an older adult who can help you haggle whether if there’s a crack in the windshield, old tires, back speakers that don’t work to take money off their offer. This gets you to work and back. Don’t get attached to Honda or Jeep just because of what your friends have.
