Anyone know the pros and cons of relaxing your hair? I’m a black girl with beautiful short curly hair but I hate how short and how much effort I have to put into my hair, anyone have advice from experience?

Con: you’ll need to chop that hair after because it quite literally is chemical damage- breaks bonds, for a lot of people increases split ends and hair breakage Pro: maintenance, easier to style

Pros: easier maintenance Cons: chemicals and less volume I relaxed 2months ago (did a mediocre job so it still has volume) I don’t regret my choice And its just hair its not permanent and you should explore and experiment

My hair is medium length though (touching my shoulders) If your hair is short think about the hairstyles you’ll be doing beforehand

both heat and relaxers technically damage your hair strands. the key is to not over process/ overly heat damage, and keep up with protein treatments im just using heat instead to achieve the same result
