does anyone have the worst mental health when they first wake up? i have been recovering from pretty bad PTSD from my ex's DV and i find myself healing in most ways but in the mornings i feel freshly triggered and a bit deranged. it feels hard to control

I have no experience at all with ptsd but it seems that given you’re healing in other ways it may just be part of your own healing process kind of like how people losing weight don’t all lose weight in the same manner, time, or method. For some reason the mornings may be the most tied to your dv experience so it’s where it’s harder/takes longer for the healing to occur. Do you have a doctor, specialist, therapist, anything of the sorts, guiding you?

i always feel weird giving this advice (bc it sounds corny) but try meditating in the morning. a guided meditation might help to ground you and remind your mind and body that it doesn’t need to be in fight-or-flight. if you’re resistant to the idea try breathing exercises. relaxing your body really helps to relax your mind, too!

being motivated to get up and do an entire day is so hard - i feel you healing isn’t linear, it is NEVER perfect and just because you have a spot in your timeline of healing where things aren’t exactly where you want them to be does not mean you’ve made inadequate progress ❤️

My mental health is actually the worst at night. Kind of like what #1 was saying, healing looks different for everyone. I don’t want you to be discouraged, though. You’re not alone, I promise you that. ❤️‍🩹

psychiatrist, and two different kinds of therapists. i am fortunate to have support in real life but at times when i feel this way it feels as though i've made less progress than i thought i had if that makes sense
