Just got contacts today. I have never worn contacts or glasses before and I don’t think they work properly. I had my family (who wear contacts) show me how to put them in but they didn’t show noticeable improvement and hurt my head. Is that normal?

the headaches can be normal but if your vision literally isn't better, that sounds to me like an issue with the prescription or them being in wrong

Absolutely not normal! Your prescription may be a bit off and it’s worsening your vision!

make sure they’re in the right eyes and not inside out

it can be normal, i’ve worn contacts for almost 10 years and still get minor headaches when my prescription changes. it shouldn’t persist past a few days. if it continues, go back to the eye doctor and get re-tested. it also sounds like you don’t have the contacts in correctly, there usually is a small marker (like a dot) on the contacts which need to be pointed down towards you. you can also do a few long blinks to adjust them into your eyes👍
