Do you have to Steal the whole car for it to be grand theft? Or is it just pieces?

it kinda depends cause grand theft is based on the monetary value of the thing being stolen, so if you steal a ton of car parts then sure it could be grand theft, but if it's not too crazy it's probably just a misdemeanor, but then charges related to operating, selling to, or buying from a chop shop are pretty much always felonies
