from how i see it a lot of people our age have untreated social anxiety and potentially agoraphobia. part of this is because of covid, and part of it is because (not all but a sizable portion of) gen x parents would straight up bully, neglect, and abuse their children and so now a non-insignificant amount of gen z is desperate for connection but hates making the first move both romantically and platonically.
