Fun fact: Top 20% of income earners in the US pay literally ALL of the taxes in this country once you factor in value of services provided by the government.

I feel like minimizing the wealth gap has a lot of positives, but, personally, I think we should be putting more of that hypothetical money into public services than giving people cuts as itโ€™ll still trickle down but benefit everyone a lot more. Like spending more on bettering education systems (not just increasing teacher pay) and into reforming the healthcare system that just more bandaids.

Yeah this would never happen because every billion would pay the house and senate so the bill wouldnโ€™t pass

You knowโ€ฆ income tax was always meant to be temporary. It was introduce to help cover war cost and I believe it wasa flat 2% for everyone. I feel like we've gotten to accused to false dichotomy politics. We want the third - not offered - option. Remove income tax and remove loopholes for companies. Charge a specialty tax for this who own over 20 million and make over 1 million per year.

The biggest issue we have in the US is federal spending. Even if we cut the US military budget entirely, we only open up about 6 weeks worth of spending

The reason itโ€™s only 6 weeks is due to the other outlays. 59% of our total revenue goes to Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.

Most millionaires are just retirees and regular people. Not really at the level of wealth you think. But Iโ€™m all for further taxation

Yup, something like a third of Americans are on some form of federal welfare. Not to mention the billions and billions wasted every year due to incompetence and corruption. But yeah what needs to change is how much we tax the rich ๐Ÿคฃ

What inherent value is there to minimizing the wealth gap?

The difference b/w 1 billion and 1 million is approx. 1 billion. Youโ€™re calling him fraud? You canโ€™t even do math

Yโ€™all legalized corruption with citizens united ๐Ÿคฃ donโ€™t act like you care. When we raise taxes on excessive wealth, instead of hoarding it, buying new mansions, private jets and yatchs, theyโ€™ll actually reinvest it in the economy like theyโ€™re supposed to.

1% of the population controlling 98% of the economy is NOT stable. Thatโ€™s why weโ€™ve had multiple โ€œonce-in-lifetimeโ€ recession since Regan. Quite frankly, this country was founded because too few people were making all the decisions. And thatโ€™s exactly whatโ€™s happening now.

It only really trickles down when the system is set up that it happens. Back in WWII people who were in the rich tax bracket were taxed 90%. Rather than paying that they reinvested it back into their companies, new machinery, higher pay for employees so their skilled/trained ones do not leave, etc. Now they donโ€™t have to do that.

Before I respond let me make sure I understand you clearly. It is your belief that people who make more money should have to pay more in tax in a manner proportionate to their income?

Yeah Iโ€™m sorry about that. Regret it to this day. Honestly I was just super tired from my seventh birthday party, and was in no state to preside over the Supreme Court. I shouldโ€™ve delayed the ruling. And if you actually think rich people are hoarding wealth you just donโ€™t know how the economy works. Ironically, the purchases you mentioned are textbook examples of reinvesting back in to the economy. You understand all of those things cost money right? Where does that money go?

Ok so you donโ€™t like bernie sanders then. It doesnโ€™t change from the principle that the average millionaire, not the outliers that already avoid taxes, does not need higher taxation.

I just used the military budget as an example to show how much our spending is (not a bad comparison since the US military is the most expensive military in the world by a huge margin)
