Why do some people have children before marriage? Or even financial stability for that matter?

I feel like this is a religious thing. Outside of religion it’s not really vital to be married before having kids. It’s literally just a piece of paper. There’s definitely advantages like legal protections but it’s not 100% necessary to get married before having kids. Some people also just don’t want to marry. Having kids before being financially stable though is another story.

It does kind of bother me that some people put so much emphasis on marriage as if it’s this thing that will solve problems or something
