That doesn’t seem like a stupid question, it’s prob because congresspeople have their election campaigns funded by donations, so some of their big donors could be in the files or otherwise related. In that case the congresspeople funded by them wouldn’t want to release the files, bc then they’d lose their funding and wouldn’t get reelected, which is what they’re all about.
