Why is Israel or “greatest ally?” Genuinely I have no idea what our relationship is or why it’s the greatest.

Because this nation suffers from a multi-billion-dollar “kill brown people” habit, and Israel, as a modern nation, has been one of the top “kill brown people” dealers since they got in the game

Genuinely I think Canada was our greatest ally. Biggest trading partner, neighbors on the continent, similar culture...

They are one of our most consistent allies. Though the relationship is more complicated than that and has gone south before. They are also the only functional democracy in the whole region and serve as a counterbalance against places like Iran and the general chaos in the region. They’re also quite similar to in culture and values so we get along. They definitely aren’t our single greatest ally though. Greatest regional ally is more accurate.

You’re completely correct, Good thing Israel is by no measure an apartheid state. But don’t take my word for it, ask the two million Arab Muslims who are full Israeli citizens how they feel under this awful apartheid regime. Maybe you’ll get a response from the oppressed Supreme Court justice, or one of the horribly disenfranchised members of parliament. Or just the man/woman on the street who enjoys… exactly the same rights and privileges as any other Israeli citizen.

Forgive me but I don’t like to follow links people send on yak as the chances of seeing something… vile. Are quite high. Just tell me what to google if you want me to look at something.

Anecdotes do not apartheid make. Show me a discriminatory law, show me a Jews only bathroom. Apartheid is a legal regime not a feeling of oppression.

There are many areas in the West Bank that literally are Jews only. Watch Louis Theroux's documentaries on Israel.

Those are not legal regimes (to the extent that they are real at all.) groups of individuals doing bad things does not apartheid make. By the same note there are many areas in the same West Bank where the Israeli government actually does forbid Jews from living. And forget about Gaza, a Jew who tried to live there before Oct 7 would have been killed.

Unlike the Palestinians, none of whom have been killed. Oh wait.

Killed during a war because they were in a war zone and terrorists were using them as human shields is not the same as killed for being Jewish. That’s like saying “the holocaust was evil.” And someone responds “not like any German civilians were killed… oh wait.” It’s not an argument, as a matter of fact it’s either evidence that you don’t actually know what you’re talking about, or are intentionally distorting the facts to justify a narrative.

The IDF has systematically leveled Gaza and is machine gunning civilians lining up to try to get humanitarian aid. You're completely delusional if you think this has anything to do with Hamas anymore.

The IDF has systematically leveled the parts of Gaza where almost every house is rigged to blow and or has a tunnel entrance within it. And while there have been awful incidents where civilians are fired on it is mostly because 1. Hamas routinely dress as civilians to carry out attacks. And 2. Many of the supposed “IDF targets civilians.” Incidents have turned out to be hamas gunmen attacking the civilians who are trying to break out of their aid stranglehold.

If Israel was interested in killing civilians there would be a whole lot more dead civilians and a whole lot less dead IDF soldiers. They could just sit at standoff range and pound everything that moved into dust. Look into the actual military reports from the ground, look at the actual assessments of battlefield casualty ratios. It has everything to do with HAMAS. They could end this war tomorrow.

I have a genuine question how come every single country except Russia and North Korea, the Us government, cause no normal us citizen supports this, are saying Israel is committing genocide. That’s more than the 6 billion people disagree with you. Why would they lie?

The countries in the Middle East hate them for being Jewish. The rest of the world it’s a combination of bandwagoning and pointing fingers to distract from their own behavior. Question, how many people have been ethnically cleansed in Sudan while this whole thing was going down? How many Muslims does China have in actual concentration camps at this moment? What about the Sahel region as a whole? What about South Africa? DRC? Israel is a convenient scapegoat.

Counter question. Do you really think Israel is the worst human rights abuser in the world? Because they have more UN condemnations against them than any other country in the world. Including Russia which is currently invading Ukraine, including China who currently is holding 1.2 million people in camps and practicing forced organ “donation.”

I will now meet you with the exact same amount of intellectual engagement and logic as you have met me #7. You’re completely wrong, your moral compass is 180 degrees off and you are listening to blatant propaganda pumped out by a genocidal terrorist state who has done far more harm to the population of Gaza than Israel ever has.

I read this somewhere; “America does not have friends, it has interests.” It really stuck with me. I think this could be applied to who we form alliances with. Being said, it begs the question of why Israel over a country like Canada? I think it’s unfortunate that the US hasn’t united the Americas (Mexico and Canada) like the EU. We’d truly be unstoppable and have the best economies in the world.
