I need space = you retreating to your own space I’m going to take some space = annexation of the space around you, historically this has lead to global conflict

Context clearly matters. Shes not requesting for you to give her space, she is telling you she’s going to take it regardless of what you want. And it’s not to “conquer” you if that’s what you’re expecting.
