If someone is completely lactose tolerant but starts taking lactaid, will it throw off their body’s ability to naturally produce lactase? Experiencing terrible acid reflux past few days, and finding milk & cheese worsen it. Considering lactaid

I’m a little confused. You can’t process lactose in the first place so why would taking lactaid change anything?

You need to find a MILF and get some human milk.

If it’s acid reflux I doubt it’s a lactose problem. Generally lactose can worsen reflux in most people but if you take lactaid you won’t be fixing the problem. Try pepto or something specifically for reflux.

Lactaid has always worked so perfectly for me that I can't imagine not taking it

Exactly. If you’re lactose intolerant your body already doesn’t produce lactase

I can process lactose normally just fine. But dairy is aggravating my current acid reflux symptoms, so im wondering if lactaid would help it go down easier so there’s less reflux symptoms.

Ah. If you usually process lactose fine then lactaid probably won’t help with your heartburn. Dairy is a common trigger for acid reflux, try skim milk or low fat cheeses and see if it helps

not necessarily, your body could just not produce enough lactase to process the amount of lactose you consume

Ohhhhh I see now. It might then, dairy is pretty hard on your body in a lot of ways, but digestive issues are definitely the most prominent. Lactaid will help your digestive system more easily process that.

Right, but it wouldn’t just manifest as acid reflux. Gas and bloating from lactose intolerance can trigger acid reflux, but they’d notice those signs, and other GI symptoms. Lactaid won’t help with dairy induced acid reflux. They need heart burn medication to address it (which is important to reduce esophageal damage) or they can reduce the trigger (eat less, or again try skim/reduced fat dairy as the fat content can be a trigger)
