Oh my goodness. I just discovered how cutting ones self can make sense and be addicting… I don’t want to keep doing it… any tips?

I would scratch myself till I bled instead, it scarred but they’ve gone away over the years

Tell someone you love who has experience dealing with mental health issues and who won’t over react. Ask if it would be ok for you to reach out to them when you feel any type of ideation, often talking about it helps dissuade the action. Especially if you can talk to someone who’s chill and understands and will keep you accountable.

Also remember cutting is often paired with some type of trauma response and dissociation, keep in mind what triggers you to be in that space and if you have the resources to talk to a professional please do that. They understand the action is often a self soothing one and can help you find better behaviors that support your crisis. You got this. Just stay open and honest and you will get the help you need.

i tried this, it doesn’t work. they blame you for being crazy and doesn’t understand that you tend to do it bc of anxiety and bc your anxious. when you say it’s bc of them and just wants them to listen they rather u get help when in reality u just want to express to them all the fears u have. just sucks 🤷
