Aghh! This is like my #1 lecture topic!! I’m an avid cyclist and skateboarder and had two life altering concussions from falls I had with my helmet on, it literally saved my life. I used to skate to school and bike to work with no helmet and it makes me sick to think about it now, one fall could truly derail your life. I’m a student/employee on a big college campus and I did feel like a dork commuting with a helmet for a while but you do get over it. The reassurance you feel is so worth it

It’s so weird bc skating is all about counterculture but people will take a bad fall to the head and give up skating for life when they could’ve just worn a helmet and spent more time skating. In a way skating with a helmet is truly counterculture bc you’re looking out for your ability to be active in the future instead of being a poser who’s just in it to look cool.

Last comment I promise but on a practical note some helmets are better than others. Look for mips (safety feature) and I’ve found that white is both more visible and more stylish than other colors. Looks good with streetwear fits. Also I think a helmet looks less dorky on a drop bar (road/cx) style bike than a flat bar commuter, idk why
