I was extremely depressed, popping pills and drinking. I decided I needed to find something I was passionate about, which is easier said than done. For me, the gym was a blessing. It gave me self motivation and discipline. I haven't touched anything since, and feel happier. I think discipline is great because it mentally prepares you for what's to come in life. Not everyone will find a passion and be happier, but it's worth a try. Talk to me if you need anything.
I’ve dealt with the really bad parts of depression where I almost lost my life. Thankfully I’m still here though. In order to dig yourself out of that hole you have to put in work. It’s going to suck but you just gotta push through it and don’t be afraid to call out for help. 988 is a good number to call if you need someone to talk to and they even have access to information to find you the best help. Get involved with volunteering and you’ll get connected to some great people.
Drugs and alcohol are not the answer for coping skills. What I do when I’m feeling down is I go into my garage and do woodworking projects or finish fixing things that I had planned to. I like to even work on my car when I can too. I play tons of video games as well but usually I’m playing things like farming simulator or factorio.
