Why do people hate furries? from my experience with them like 90% of them are legit so nice and awesome

A lot of bad pr. Most people aren’t really educated on the topic and believe furries think they’re animals or that they think litter boxes should be in schools or smthn like that. Some people think the mascot-like costumes are creepy. Some people met the bad eggs of the community.

Almost all of the ones I’ve known have been really cool and just into art and the community aspect. As with every group there are unfortunately bad eggs and those people are very loud about their problematic interests.

As a current furry, ex-furry hater, people don’t comprehend that I do not think I am not human. I just resonate with anthro characters and happen to have made one as a sort of personal mascot! I am also not ‘into’ animals in any sort of way, which is another random claim some people use

Not to mention that the furry fandom is a big safe space for the lgbt+ community, the kink community, and the neurodivergent community so if anyone is anti any of those things they’re gonna hate furries

from my experience the community isnt just one circle, theres little subsections of the community so like not everyone who's a furry is kinky or neurodivergent or whatever
