Okay context: I don't see my parents that often and they're actually pretty chill people they have some gay friends but I honestly don't know what their reaction would be. I wouldn't be in an unsafe situation if I came out. I recently started exploring dating women (I'm F) and feel like I need to come clean soon because I'm honest with them about most things. My brother isn't home so this is one of the few times I get to hang out with them one on one for a while and could start a discussion

Not all “very religious” people have the same views on queer people believe it or not. If OP’s parents are openly homophobic then my advice tells them they shouldn’t come out

I assume they wouldn’t bring up that they’re very religious unless part of their religious beliefs were homophobic. Stirring shit up with your family on purpose during the holidays is a bad idea even if you’re morally in the right.
