Uhhh I’ll just say it broader, people who want to tan just wants to show that they have means to go on vacations, to show that they have means to ‘have fun’ prob outside of the country. I’d say they do it just for looks and implicit status. Nothing much other than a few compliments, them bragging abt where they went or whatv.
Braids originated in Ancient Africa. A picture of a Black woman with braids was found in the Sahara desert dating back to 3500 BCE. The claim “black women copy everything white women invent” is false. I’ll agree with your claim about copying the straight hair yet outside of this what has a white woman invented that black woman have copied?
Asking “why are white people racist” is a generalizing question whereas my question was about a specific group of people doing a specific thing and I’m wondering what the reason behind it is. That’s not generalizing. Also, “why are white people racist” isn’t an interesting question.
That said I don’t see how the answer to your question could be anything other than that white girls who dislike black people and also tan are anything other than ignorant and malicious and that’s not very interesting cus that’s what people who have been tricked into being racist or sexist or bigoted etc. just are, which I think is less interesting that studying the history of racism and race (even only in the context of white peoples perpetuation of racism).
To your credit as well this question is similar to “why are closeted conservatives homophobic” which is an interesting question. I think that white racist tan enjoying individuals and homophobic gay people both are jealous of the groups they victimize. They have been taught to hate something that they want themselves, and because of the ignorance that comes with racism or homophobia that is systemically pushed onto them, they can’t see the irony. I take back what I said, you did ask a good Q
I enjoy your take of they’re jealous of something they’ve been taught to hate. I do not think I would have thought of it that way. I guess my next question is would be at what point do these individuals learn to educate themselves yet I do not think that’s a question you nor I could answer. It sucks when you’re born a certain way for people mock it yet at the same time copy.
Sadly individuals can’t just learn to educate themselves I don’t think. Addressing systemic problems like redlining, politicians using racist dog-whistling, etc. is the best path I see forward, but it’s simply hard for a racist to understand why racism is stupid when they are in homogenous communities that actively reinforce stereotypes on our groups, and that is a fundamentally systemic, not individual, problem. That said individuals like you can try to change the system.
Also, do you lack accountability for your peers actions to where instead of addressing the question you bring up another question entirely? Your questions/claims have absolutely nothing to do with the original post. If this is how you write papers I’m sure your professors are ashamed.
