For those who take antidepressants, I’m sorry that you’ll stay that way for a very long time. Why not try meditation or psychotherapy? There’s no scientific proof that these meds work. None. Why rely on them? I’m doing much better not taking it.

I was in a couple years of therapy before getting on meds and I was slowly getting worse. I got on meds and they didn’t help and tried to die. Then after trying a couple more meds I got better. I could go outside and not have a panic attack from being in public. I then tried to lower the dose of the meds I was on and it was immediately back to extreme anxiety about leaving my house + worse depressive episodes. So honestly even if I am on meds for the rest of my life, it’s so so so much better.

I truly believe anything that costs money in this country is made to keep you spending money. The meds are made to keep you dependent, and the food here is meant to put us in the hospitals. Everything has something to give us cancer. Why don’t we have a cure yet? How much funding has been supplied? They don’t want to help they just want your money

Sadly, I am on medications due to a chemical imbalance that was recognized in first grade 💔 therapy has done me wonders but I am reliant on medications still. I do hope I won’t need to rely on them one day, but as a college student I genuinely cannot afford to try to cold turkey it (not to mention how dangerous it can be)

+ last I checked there is scientific proof that they work, but I’d have to read up on studies to double check that. They just don’t work for everyone because brain stuff confusing

If dozens of pharmacists agree with me, it’s probably because it’s true. Doctors don’t know much about drugs unlike them. There is no scientific proof that it works. People don’t pay attention to norepinephrine at all. I’m sure that’s the key

That’s not true, part of being in med school is learning about pharmaceuticals and memorizing types of medication. There’s plenty of scientific proof and papers, here’s a meta analysis on it: https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(17)32802-7/fulltext

this post is so wrong is every way. why are you sorry? it’s a blessing to have access to chemical balancing agents to improve mental health, it’s people with rhetoric like you that prevent others from wanting to seek help because of fear of judgement.

adding to this post to state that i’ve found multiple peer reviewed studies from pubmed showing the that people diagnosed with depression showed improved results in mental health with the use of antidepressants:)

All I’m saying is that they’re the easy way out. Plus ssri doesn’t crate serotonin. And if you have high levels or norepinephrine levels, it doesn’t do anything. But maybe my mindset is just stronger than 90% of people and I blame my Japanese mom for that.

OP has to be trolling, SSRI’s are not a permanent fix they are a supplement to therapy and psychotherapy, but i don’t need to explan myself to someone with no medical background and whose only evidence is “dozens of pharmacists agree with me” as a pharmacy technician myself they probably agreed with you so you could get out of the store and let them get back to work🫩

SSRI’s don’t create serotonin because that’s not their job, it’s to prevent the body from absorbing the serotonin to allow the serotonin naturally produced by the body to remain in the synapse to attach to receptors on the neuron
