I’m sure he suspects you like him and he might like you also. Him saying he isn’t looking for a gf could just be his way of guarding himself in case his hunch is wrong. Worst thing worst you don’t confirm his suspicions but at least he isn’t in a situation where he makes a move on a friend and gets turned down. Long story short he likely is into you and thinks you are into him as well he just isn’t confident enough to make the first move and is hoping you will instead.
