idk you might be underestimating the impact of heteronormativity. I know lots of non-straight people who were teenagers before they realized some variation of "oh, not everyone feels this way"

Yeah that’s a very normal age to be discovering that stuff. Kids usually aren’t and shouldn’t be worried about romance or sexuality until they’re in their teens.
