AITA for not letting my friend over bc he has a panic attack every time he’s with our friend group past 12 AM? It was worrying the first 6 times, but I needed support last week and he said damn that’s crazy and then had a panic attack when I mentioned it

I really want to just give him space right now. I had something at 8 this morning and we did not go to bed until 3 AM in trying to help calm him down. He stays the night all the time and this has happened enough times that I was unfortunately very short with him and raised my voice while saying that he needs to breathe and calm down because I’m still not doing great after him saying damn that’s crazy in response to me talking about a recent hard time that’s befallen me.

NTA. it’s okay to be frustrated by this. especially when it’s literally every single time past 12 am. this is an issue he has to either work through, or leave before 12. honestly, who wants to have to talk someone off the ledge every time you hangout with them? not me

my roommate and I hang out with him a lot, but I am not emotionally equipped to stabilize a person who does this to the degree and frequency he has with us. we do not know if he does this with other friend groups. my roommate and I are considering not inviting him over anymore this month, but worry this may bring on another panic attack, as he has been set off by much smaller dilemmas before.

not to mention, you’ve been there for him keeping you up for hours with his panic attacks but the one time you express you’re going through something his response is less than ideal.
