my sympathies for this, but unfortunately you simply have to talk about it with him. the most that random people on the internet can do is guess. if he won't take the time to have a conversation with you about it then that kind of says a lot about how much he values your feelings..

that’s interesting, yeah hard to say because i’m not there and can only assume. but could be busy and tired, could be something on his mind, could be something you guys are going through, but yeah i’d definitely talk to him about it and communicate your feelings and stuff to see what he says. very common expression but it’s true that communication is key
