My boyfriend really likes video games and I really like to be outside/athletic. I feel like video games are a waste of time but I think I’m biased cause my interests are different. Why/how are they a good hobby? I genuinely want to understand. Be nice <3

On a scientific note it can be correlated with increased cognitive function, hand eye coordination, reasoning skills, and longevity of high levels of cognition by improving memory and attention and overall neuroplasticity. Obv this all depends on the types of video games he’s playing and how long, but in general they’re a great hobby

i love video games! i’m a girl so it might be different, but it’s an online space where i can relax and be myself. my mistakes aren’t permanent and can be fixed, i get to meet new people with like interests, and i don’t have to think much!

It’s good for me because it helps me relax unless I’m playing online then I’m stressed out phsyco. Online helps me be competitive though. Sometimes it doesn’t require much thinking to play video games I just get lost and it takes me away from having to over thinking everything. Sometimes it makes me feel accomplished that I’m actually somewhat good at something. That’s why it’s a good hobby for me but I understand it can take a lot of time away from important stuff

Minecraft is a highly studied example of this, and there's a video game that was made to literally be prescription for ADHD
