I have very low intrinsic motivation. It’s not like I don’t have any ambition or goals. I do, I just don’t actually want to work hard for things. I find most work to be tiresome and I’m a procrastinator. I’m smart and have potential, but what should I do?

I’m in my final year of college and I gave a 3.8 GPA.

Surround yourself with people who work hard. We are the people who we spend the most time with—so if you put yourself near those who you wish to be more like, you will start to emulate them, bit by bit. Also, join a student org that cares about “doing the work.” For me this is most of my orgs, which tend to be based on volunteer efforts. This is another way to surround yourself with motivated people, except you share a goal of <whatever the org is doing> and they’re more likely to check in!
