Atheists what’s the most religious experience you’ve had, or the closest thing to a religious experience you’ve had?

Probably a mushroom trip in the mountains w my boys. I felt connected to the Universe in a special way. It wasn’t “religious”, however. It was a literal feeling of belonging here, feeling grounded by existence itself instead of “God”. It was interesting.

Hum, I guess it’s like feeling connected, awed, and content? Like when you feel that peace only nature can inspire, when an idea finally clicks, the laughter of someone you care for, love, sex, art, music, beauty, and life - I suppose it must be something like that.

even trying to go to church didn't give me a religious experience, we are atheists because we don't believe in religion or those experiences existing

I agree, also being out in nature. Seeing bison and deer and butterflies. Learning more about astronomy and trying to wrap my little human mind around the grandeur of the universe. We live in a place of beauty, we’ve spent hundreds of thousands of years loving and hating and telling stories and making art. the power in the air during a thunderstorm will always be more godly to me than a church

that's great, doesn't change the fact that I literally don't believe he exists

Ppl who force religion on others remind me of those really tiny dogs that hump your leg randomly. It’s annoying, and kind of pathetic, but you just don’t really care that much.

Look man I was raised religious, but never really bought into it. I know they tell you to do all that, but pretty much everyone knows about Jesus (especially atheists). Quite frankly even if god existed and would send me to hell for not believing/worshiping I would not want to be in heaven.
