I fell in love with this cat in Mexico while studying abroad. It doesn’t seem like he has a home but he is SOOO affectionate and always runs over to me when I walk by his neighborhood. Is it ethical to take him home with me?

Unfortunately if he’s that affectionate he’s probably somebody’s outdoor cat, not a stray. Strays are usually much more skittish around people, a cat being this cuddly usually means they’ve been socialized with humans.

Check to see if he’s chipped!

If he’s always in the same neighborhood he more than likely has a home, but I say stalk him and find out. It’s tough for animals to find petters out there, at least from what Ives seen. I would pet all the dogs and use a baby voice on them & I had a dog mob w me all the time lol

Yes actually! If he is a stray there has been instances where a tourist will take them to the local vet there and ask to bring an animal home.

If u find the owner u cld ask them, some have multiple from the same liter & could be convinced to part ways with him. BUT he is used to a life of complete freedom & probably even hunts for himself too every now & then, unless you have a big house + yard don’t take him (cats damage local animal ppltns tho)

^that sounds messed up to say but it’s true guys, i have family that makes like 400 pesos a week (22$) and the ppl of that ranch & the surrounding ones would literally never chip their pet bcs they don’t see a need & have to use their money on other things. I think it’s more of a large city thing & definitely not the standard
