have you at all changed your mind after seeing what is happening? I’m liberal but i hate it when previous trump voters change their support and are met with a bunch of hate and “you were told this would happen,” like regardless of anything if we make people think they can’t change their opinion then we’ll never get him out of office
I do believe personal freedoms are being threatened by this administration. I think societally we need to be reminded that the "liberal" part of a liberal democracy should not rule over other aspects of the moral values of our nation. Accepting others is good to a point. I strongly believe that the anti-male sentiment, anti-white sentiment, anti-straight sentiment, and anti Christian and Jewish values (pro atheist) values threaten what I love most about America.
I strongly believe that intent behind the concept of freedom of religion was to allow for minor deviations at the sect level between protestant, catholic, and Jewish interpretations of the new/old testaments. I am quite certain that any of the founding fathers would be appalled that our nation would encourage atheist, muslim, or other ideologies to exist and even have political representation.
I believe the fundamental doctrines of other religions to be a serious deviation from the moral frameworks that build this nation. Not only a deviation, but that they are ideologies that lead ultimately to horrible outcomes. A trivial observation of the result of those ideologies can be seen by looking at the nations they have come from
this is where i completely completely disagree. I think that belief is the one that ran Great Britain, and when we separated from them part of that new start was founding a country based on the freedom to say and believe in anything and not be forced to worship or follow anything through our government. Regardless of what religion our Foundjng Fathers were, they built the US on the philosophy and belief of being a place with free ideas and beliefs and would be appalled that the government is
forcing religions on citizens, that the government exists in our health care and controls women bodies, and taking away freedom of religion and freedom of press. all of those completely violate the entire idea of a democracy, and we’re moving further and further away from a country “for the people”
the government is literally shut down, the economy is falling apart, we’re losing our right to free speech, separation of church and state, ICE is beating seniors, and Trump jut declared war on america on anyone who disagrees with him. If a democrat president said they were sending military into red states to “correct them” i would take the same issue with it, its not about political sides it’s our right to disagree that i’m worried about
this isn’t from a judgment point at all, im just curious bc on any platform i agree its j both sides yelling at each other which doesn’t help anyone, but are you worried at all about the power of free speech and disagreeing? even if you back his policies i would still be concerned that if someone comes in who you don’t agree with their policies there will be nothing you can do bc we’ll have lost our right to democracy since we’re alr moving into dictatorship
I definitely think democrats backed themselves too hard behind certain issues, and that’s part of why we lost the election is because it was easy to be categorized as only caring about certain demographics, but the facts that jimmy kimmel gets taken off the air for suggesting the person who shot charlie kirk was conservative while fox news hosts can say that homeless people should be involuntarily lethally injected with no one saying anything is crazy to me
what i loved about america too was all those demographics, every religion, every ethnicity, every gender, and every sexual orientation existing without needing to put down another. as a christian though, the christian beliefs and policies being placed into government and schools is completely not okay and a violation of the constitution, the right to freedom of religion, and i HEAVILY believe in the separation of church and state meaning no religion should be forced on anyone
