I'm in a similar situation (mom is mixed and looks brown, I take after my white dad) and what works for me is just saying I'm white but staying connected to my mom's dad's mom's culture

OK, so how genetics works your dad’s dad would be 50% white 50% black, depending on whatever your grandma was, your dad would then get a random makeup from his dad a 50% that could come from either black it’s not exclusive. So we don’t know that genetic makeup of your dad so we can’t tell you.

my paternal grandpa is racist in almost the exact way uncle ruckus is in boondocks 😭😭 which some of those ideas he passed to my dad, who tried to pass them to me. thats the big deal ig. i literallt cant rlly talk to him ab it, meanwhile my moms overjoyed to be like “oh ur irish, italian, heavy on the swedish, scottish, and a touch of english/welsh in there” (cant remember)

aaaaaaa my brown side was so racist too 😭 like they would never acknowledge they're native unless they were taking us to the rez, but it's like it's not an identity they let my mom or her dad take home
