This is all just to force women into more pain during pregnancy. Theyāre demonizing contraceptive pills. Theyāre demonizing pain killers used by pregnant women. Theyāre actively trying to make sex and reproduction as much of a living hell for women as possible. And theyāll spread any lies they can to get there. Watch, next theyāll attack pads and tampons. And I cannot, for the life of me, figure out why except simply for this countryās pure hatred of our women.
The only reason they would say some nonsense like this is bc their āresearchā for the past several months on the cause came up nothing Scientists havenāt fully determined a cause in their own for decades. They pulled this cause out of their ass. And for what? To reduce Tylenol sales? People will probably figure it out over time that itās meaningless and the sales will go back to normal. This administration is weird dude
honestly i wanted to debate with you guys but you guys are all taking what i said out of proportion and trying to be disrespectful, its not cute. i never said for anyone to stop taking it, all i said is that it needs to be very closely studied. i spoke about the correlation and when i said ācausing an increaseā i was speaking about the correlation specifically. sorry if you didnt get that. if you read back, i said itās a very āpossibleā correlation i never even once confirmed it myself.
I mean iām not saying that tylenol causes autism and itās def a multifactorial issue, but Harvard was the one studying this, and if they find a link shouldnāt that be looked into further? obviously there are situations where Tylenol is necessary but it is a very harmful med in general especially for the liver so it should be limited if possible
im ngl i dont support trump in any way shape or form but heās actually telling the truth there have indeed been upcoming studies that are correlating tylenol use during pregnancy to causing an increase in autism and add/adhd. itās something thats being researched now and something we should possibly listen to or do the research on our own. anyways fuck trump
he promised theyād find a source and a cure when this has been researched for a while and the actual research is nowhere close, so RFK sought out a bullshit fringe researcher who says heās found that source so that they can say theyāve done it. the researcherās name is william parker, heās a disgrace to the scientific community
the moment that tylenol went on the market years ago the diagnoses of autism started going up too so honestly its a very possible correlation that has to be closely studied. its a rough experiment but they should do it in my opinion. two groups of pregnant women, one takes tylenol during the pregnancy and the others dont take anything and see how the children come out.
Children with severe autism arenāt in general education. We try to somewhat integrate those with moderate autism, and mildly autistic kids are almost entirely in general ed. Itās those forms of autism that youāve probably seen. Severe autism is extremely debilitating and tragic.
the crazy thing is, that it is a known fact that doctors themselves tell pregnant women to take tylenol so itās obviously not something widely known, it is actively being researched now. i feel that is valid and just because its new doesnāt mean you knock it bc of whose mouth itās coming out of yk what i mean
Okay so first, Tylenol is a brand and not the actual medication. The medication they stated as a cause of autism is acetaminophen. Now they did not perform a new study to prove its correlation, they just analyzed 46 previous studies about the correlation between pregnant mothers taking acetaminophen and adhd & autism in children. Some of the studies they evaluated were as old as the 1990ās and there wasnāt one single control group for all of them.
So itās not a known fact at all. The only conclusion the review of all of those studies was that there is a fair correlation between the two outcomes but mainly high doses for prolonged periods, like 4 or more weeks of use during pregnancy. But the reason this is JUST correlation is because the studies canāt prove if the rate increase is because of the acetaminophen or if itās from prolonged illness or stress of the mother.
Not a single reputable doctor or medical professional has given the affirmative with saying itās a dangerous medication and can confidently say that it causes autism. Because none of the current studies are done well enough to be able to prove anything past correlation. And fevers are MUCH more dangerous than taking Tylenol or another brand of acetaminophen, so even if it miraculously was the cause of autism mothers should still be taking it.
The majority of autism is mild and totally livable, but severe cases are really difficult to deal with. I have plenty of autistic friends but my bfās step brother is severely on the spectrum. He canāt speak more than one word sentences, will have violent outbursts when he canāt communicate properly, and needs around the clock care as an adult. It can be extremely debilitating
As someone with family in healthcare, I can promise you several autism does get people severely hurt. Broken fingers if youāre lucky, worse if youāre not. It isnāt inherently ābadā, but in the cases seen by hospitals, the kids are usually given up on by parents who cannot handle the severity of the case anymore and kids are stuck with hospital life or put in state custody.
Tylenol is only one brand name and acetaminophen is the ONLY approved medication for pregnant women to take to lower their fevers. Fevers are a lot more dangerous to a baby than acetaminophen could possibly be. If you are healthy and donāt get fevers when pregnant then of course donāt take it, but if you need it the take it.
itās not a good thing to have autism lol itās literally a psychological disorder. no one said itās the kidsā faults so idk where youāre getting that. no one is excited when their kid is dx w autism bc it makes life incredibly more difficult. it is sad and i am empathetic towards both children and adults w autism but im not going to sit here and say itās not a bad thing when it is.
I never said the children themselves are bad. Iāve worked with a couple of these kids and I really wish there was more effective treatment because they are really sweet. However they can barely express themselves and cannot take care of themselves. Some self harm or harm others. Itās really sad to see. I especially feel bad for their parents because they love their children so much and hate to see them having these troubles but at the same time are absolutely exhausted
And you know why autism rates went up at the same time Tylenol was invented? Bc insane medical advancements were being made, both for physical and mental health. It was a healthcare renaissance. More people were being diagnosed because more symptoms were revealed to be associated with ASD and ppl were more open to being evaluated. Just so happened to be at the same time as an increase in vaccines and an increase in otc medications. Doesnāt mean they have any fucking thing to do with each other.
I understand he instinct to say that, but as a high functioning autistic person my life is still made harder by my disability. Like aside from the social isolation, the sensory experiences and meltdowns are the exact opposite of good. We can acknowledge autism is bad without thinking autistic people are bad because that way we can get autistic people the accommodations they need
wow youāre stupid it has nothing to do with your party they said the same thing about vaccines but those studyās werenāt even done by an actual scientist who didnāt report half his findings and he was paid my lawyer to find those results but if you look at all the information concluded from the studies there was no causation regardless of an increase in vaccinations plus the criteria of the DSM-5 is more accurate now. What heās doing is creating panic & basically implying autism is a disease
i also feel like you guys are treating autism and adhd/add as if it was a disease or some shit. i am glad theyāre making these technological advancements and everything gets tested at one point for science. so honestly this new perspective is not all that surprising considering all the different studies i imagine are done to try and find the cause. it could be a false statement and thats okay all i was saying is pay attention to the research thats it.
As an autistic person, thatās not why your brother is autistic. He has a neurological condition that is largely rooted in genetics, as do I. My father is likely autistic, though heād never admit it, and because of that genetic factor, I inherited that condition. A medication taken during a pregnancy will not cause a neurological condition, especially one deemed safe by doctors literally worldwide.
Correct. Iām autistic, and even worse, Iām a girl, meaning I have one of the most misunderstood conditions coupled with the fact that Iām the gender that is the most understudied with the condition. People make a lot of assumptions about what they simply donāt understand, and thatās happening a lot here.
Why cure what genuinely doesnāt need a cure? Treatment and therapy is cool and I absolutely encourage it for those who need it, but my autism is intrinsically a part of who I am, even if itās not my entire identity. As much as I sometimes hate having it, I donāt want it gone.
Itās a neurological disorder, meaning itās physically in the brain, not a psychological disorder, which is a mental illness. The brain works differently. I have autism, and while itās tough sometimes, it doesnāt make me bad or wrong, it just makes me different. Iām high functioning, so I can do normal things like have a job, drive, etc, but those with severe autism need care since they canāt handle those things. It doesnāt make them bad, though.
Exactly. I got very lucky in this department, as my mother is a mental health professional who is well educated on this subject. I canāt imagine being a young child and having to deal with prejudice from your own parents for a condition you didnāt ask for and that isnāt anyoneās fault.
Yes some studies that have found small increases of autism and adhd correlated with acetaminophen while other studies have found no correlation, but correlation is not enough to prove causation and the president should not be advising pregnant women to ātough it outā through fevers as acetaminophen is the only safe medication for them to take.
Itās because he said itās a cause which his own study he was basing all of this off of said there is not nearly enough evidence to say that itās a cause, only that itās mildly correlated š they misquoted the Dr who co-signed the study saying it was a cause which he had explicitly said they would need way more research to prove that and also advised that pregnant women still use the medicine where Trump said āonly take it if you canāt tough it outā like taking it is about willpower
weird because natural pain medication had been used before and it was only really until Archbishop Stephen Langton that it was considered normal for birth to be painful. I mean why do you think they tried to get rid of all the mid wife but then complained about their wifeās dying in childbirth.
omg so bc popbase said thereās no evidence you should just believe it? š± there are indeed studies from mount sinai, a world-renowned hospital & research center that strongly suggest this correlation. let this be a lesson to you, not even about the validity of the research, but to your blind acceptance of the claim made on some post.
it is indeed true that there is no evidence conclusively confirming a causal link. but to suggest there no evidence at all is silly, and completely misinterprets the current scientific consensus on the correlations that HAVE been found. the āperson above meā is actually mostly correct, itās YOU iām condemning. i donāt need to read a popbase post bc I read the research papers. do the same and come back with the same insult if youād like.
Shut the fuck up you absolute moron lmao. Birth is painful because youāre literally pushing a whole human being out of your body. The Bible also says that people who wear two different fibers in the same jacket should be burned alive. It says a lot of dumbass shit that doesnāt apply to modern life, but thatās just misogynistic bullshit.
I donāt care if you condemn me, tf? I have autism. I know shit about my own disorder, and I know from the doctors I visited during my diagnostic process and from just simply being a person with autism that the cause of autism is largely genetic. My father is likely autistic, though heād never admit it. My neurological condition wasnāt caused by over the counter painkillers my mother took while she was pregnant, because thatās fucking ridiculous. Correlation does not equal causation, especially-
The study isnāt the issue, itās a great study and very well put together, the issue is Trump and his administration miss representing it or straight up lying about the results to the general public and advising pregnant women to try to ātough it outā through fevers when fevers are much more dangerous
yes you should always follow the instructions to avoid liver damage, however many people with chronic pain can take less than the daily allotted amount however taking it daily and for prolonged periods of time is in fact very harmful and will cause liver kidney and heart issues. itās fine to be taken sparingly but again should be limited
Yes and the actual results of the study was that the only significant correlation between autism and acetaminophen use was when it was taken at excessively high doses or used for 4 or more weeks during the pregnancy, both of which are already advised against medically. Which is why doctors are advising mothers to still take acetaminophen when they need it and to not be afraid of the medication, just take it how itās instructed.
well i appreciate you sharing that. but even so much as having the condition isnāt substitute for rigorous, peer-reviewed research. and (as you pointed out), acetaminophen was invented years after early ASD diagnoses, yet that doesnāt rule out the possibility of a correlationalāor even causalāeffect. just suggests that itās not the only cause, which weāre all aware of (genetics will likely always be the leading cause).
i should point out that, i donāt think we necessarily disagree about that much. i only ācondemnedā your treating popbaseās claim as dogmatic, despite it taking the governmentās warning out of context. our president tends to ramble, but the studies the warning draws from paints a much more nuanced picture than āno evidence found, continue to use as normalā
this is the first time anyoneās said this to me. definitely doesnāt feel good but I thought itād be a lot worse! maybe itās different when itās anonymous or behind a screen. im a premed researcher and my ultimate goal is radical life extension, so itās my duty to wish the opposite towards you. have a nice day
I donāt care whoās arguing what right now, I am so incredibly sorry someone chose to say that to you. That is NOT right nor is it okay. People feel such an authority to be mean when itās anonymous and people like 94 are the reason that people are lacking sympathy. Itās unfortunate but a lot of people are unable to understand that people on the internet are still living beings.
And how would you feel if this comment was somebodies breaking point? You would be the treason somebodies parents, siblings, pets, friends, extended family had to wake up in a world that they hoped to never live in. Youād be the reason for massive amounts of grief, all because you ran out of arguments in an anonymous comment section? NOBODY deserves to hear that, you should feel awful.
thank you for your words! im neurodivergent as well (we often have more in common w others than we think; even in heated debates! @113) so no worries: i actually dont process emotional jabs in the same way. but i can definitely recognize and value kindness, and yours didnāt go unnoticed today. ppl like you inspire me to double down on research! hope we all live long, healthy lives; have a nice day
Our president is a convicted felon who appointed someone with both a brain worm and no medical background as the face of public health. I trust whatever he says about as far as I can throw him. Iām not taking what popbase said as fact, Iām taking what I already know from medical professionals and my own diagnosis as fact. The conclusion Trump came to contradicts facts I already knew and have known for years.
technically half of the country didnāt support either candidate⦠Only 65% of the US population old enough to vote actually voted in 2024⦠There was this big notion our generation had that their personal vote ādidnāt matterā or āwouldnāt make a differenceā which ultimately led to a very significant decrease in voters⦠Also his supporters have dwindled since this admin for sure. I know he has lost the support of thousands of veterans and minorities.
for most of them it is entirely their own fault for not caring enough to actually educate themselves on these topics from real sources in todayās society where everything is in the palm of your hand yea i put blame on them for sure⦠Definitely not all there are people not fortunate enough to have those resources but to anyone in college or that is completely capable of educating themselves but actively chooses not too because āpolitics are boringā should be to blame
Are we seriously pretending trump doesnt have dementia have you seen his recent speeches? Itās so obvious bro has had a couple strokes and is barely aware enough for that period of time to mumble some incoherent words out. But maybe we have different definitions of the word āsentenceā
thatās for excessive use, keyword excessive. if you drink alcohol excessively during pregnancy your baby is born with fetal alcohol syndrome. Nobody has ever said ever that you straight shouldnāt take acetaminophen during pregnancy. Go read the articles you fling around and learn a thing or two.
So stuttering versus just outright nonsense and incoherent speech are acceptable for you? If comparisons are going to be made, the facts have to come with it and it is just a downright fact that half of the stuff that comes out of his mouth is not only blatantly false but incomprehensible? Maybe the bigger picture of age and mental status need to be brought into play here on both sides.
Usually because they put that label on everything š¤¦āāļø do you seriously think itās ethical to test if itās dangerous or not on pregnant women? A lot of things just slap that label on because itās not ethical to test these kinds of things. It may have an effect, we donāt know. Itās safer to err on the side of caution but that label really doesnāt mean shit unless itās an old time thing where the results have already shown up
